COVA

Choice, Ownership, Voice, Authenticity
I struggle with how I am going to incorporate the COVA model into my classroom. It all seems daunting very daunting in the beginning. How can I create meaningful lessons that include all of the aspects of this strategy? Then it hits me, I don't have to do this all at once! I can slowly incorporate each of the components as I move through my units. I am new to this. I need scaffolding just like my students. Students can take ownership of their projects by choosing how they want to present their work. They have a voice when they work in their groups. Their learning is authentic when it relates to real life, and they have a choice when they create their own questions for discussion groups.
Be dauntless! Make COVA work for you. It is your tool to go beyond the worksheet and move outside of the box. The journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step.
